Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we are asked most, answered plainly. If yours is not here, message us and ask it directly.

Is NuvTax part of FBR?

No. NuvTax by Nuvforge is an independent tax support and education service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the Federal Board of Revenue.

How much does it cost to file my income tax return?

Straightforward salaried return filing starts from PKR 3,500. A review of a return you already have starts from PKR 2,500. Freelancers, business income and multiple income sources are quoted individually because the work genuinely differs.

Who actually prepares my return?

Your return is reviewed and prepared under the guidance of senior tax professionals with around three decades of experience working within Pakistan's tax system, including senior careers in federal tax administration.

What is the deadline for filing?

The standard due date for individual and AOP income tax returns is 30 September following the end of the tax year. FBR has extended this date in some years, but an extension should never be assumed in advance.

I have never filed before. Where do I start?

You start with registration. If you do not have an NTN, that comes first, and we can handle it. Once registered you can file, and filing is what puts you on the Active Taxpayers List.

Does filing a return mean I will have to pay more tax?

Not necessarily, and for many salaried people the assumption is wrong. Tax is often already deducted at source by an employer throughout the year, and filing is the act of declaring it properly. In some cases filing is how people recover tax that was over-deducted.

Can you file returns for previous years I missed?

Yes. Several unfiled years is more common than people assume and it is workable. What matters is doing it in the correct order, because each year's wealth statement builds on the one before it.

Why do you need my bank balance as at 30 June and my asset details?

Individual filing usually requires both an income tax return and a wealth statement. The wealth statement declares what you own and owe at the close of the tax year, and it needs to reconcile against your declared income.

Can you register my NTN for me?

Yes. We handle NTN registration for first-time taxpayers, including cases that have previously failed. Registration is completed in your own name using your own CNIC and mobile number, and the account remains yours.

Can you teach me to file my own return?

Yes. Hands-on IRIS training is available for people who want to understand the portal and file confidently on their own. Sessions are worked through practically rather than delivered as a lecture.

Can I send all my documents over WhatsApp?

Start the conversation on WhatsApp, but do not send sensitive financial documents through public forms or unverified channels. We provide a secure route for document sharing once your case is qualified.

Do you work with freelancers and people paid from abroad?

Yes. Freelancers, remote workers and IT exporters are a significant part of our work. How foreign payments reach Pakistan and how they are documented affects how they are treated, so raise it with us early rather than at filing time.

How long does the whole process take?

For a straightforward salaried return with documents ready, it is quick. What determines the timeline is almost always how long it takes to gather documents and resolve gaps, not the preparation itself. Filing in July or August is far faster than filing in late September.

What if my wealth statement does not reconcile?

This is one of the most common issues we see and it usually means something was left out rather than anything improper: a gift, an inheritance, a family loan, sale proceeds or remittances that were never recorded. Our review is designed to find those gaps before submission.

Do you serve clients outside my city?

Yes. The entire process runs over WhatsApp and secure document sharing, so we work with clients across Pakistan and with Pakistanis living abroad.
