Documents You Need to File

A practical checklist. Not every item applies to everyone, and gathering these before you start saves the most time.

Identity and registration

  • CNIC
  • NTN, if you are already registered
  • IRIS login credentials, if you have filed before
  • A mobile number and email registered in your own name

If you are salaried

  • Annual salary certificate from your employer, showing salary paid and tax deducted
  • Payslips, if a salary certificate is not available
  • Details of any bonus, gratuity or other employment benefits

Bank information

  • Bank statements for the tax year for your accounts
  • Closing balance as at 30 June for each account
  • Profit credited on savings or deposit accounts, and tax deducted on it
  • Details of any foreign currency accounts

Assets

  • Property. Address, size, purchase date and cost. Registry or allotment documents where available.
  • Vehicles. Registration number, make and model, purchase date and cost.
  • Investments. Shares, mutual funds, savings certificates, business capital.
  • Cash in hand at year end.
  • Gold, jewellery and other valuables where applicable.
  • Foreign assets where applicable.

Liabilities

  • Outstanding loan balances, including home and vehicle financing
  • Credit card outstanding balances
  • Loans from family or other individuals

Other income

  • Rental income and associated property details
  • Freelance or business income
  • Agricultural income
  • Dividends and capital gains
  • Foreign remittances, with bank credit advices

Tax already deducted

  • Withholding tax certificates from banks
  • Tax deducted on vehicle token or registration
  • Tax deducted on property transactions
  • Tax deducted on utility connections and mobile services where relevant
  • Any advance tax paid

History and changes

  • Your previous year's return and wealth statement, if you have filed before
  • Details of assets bought or sold during the year
  • Documentation for gifts, inheritance or loans received, which matters for reconciliation

Do not send sensitive documents through public forms or unverified channels. Share financial records only through the secure route we provide after your case is qualified.
